I still felt that everything was like a dream until I began to write a summary at the end of the volunteer program in the United States. I remember the first time I knew about the program at a seminar, the first time I submitted my application materials, the first time I applied for a USA visa at the consulate and the first time I took an international flight over a long distance. All seems like it was just yesterday. But the program is coming to an end in the blink of an eye.
The United States has always been the most familiar stranger to us. On the one hand, we learn from the United States about their advanced techniques and their advanced ideas. On the other hand, we are also afraid of the United States as a superpower, and of all what is different from us. So when I first wanted to come to America, I chose the volunteer program because I hoped to reveal the secrets of the state. As the saying goes, what you hear is not reliable but what you see with your own eyes is. We have heard a lot about the United States from television, newspapers or Hollywood blockbusters. But I guess nothing can be more true than what you experience the life here when you come to the country and talk with the people here.
I spent two months in the United States, just right for a summer. What I experience and learn here, in my opinion, will be the wealth of my life.
